Updated for 2008, these classifications and specific
limitations were designed to further our goal of creating a spring
program that ensures fair and equal competition so that all
participants may enjoy their experience. As age alone is never a
true test of skill level, it is incumbent upon those registering
to honestly apply for the proper level based on league rules.
Youth - Teams
House Select:
We implemented the term "house select" several years
ago to better describe the house teams in our league. Since
that time the term select has come to mean several other
things. We chose "house select" because the teams
are selected by the coaches and not drafted as they are in the
fall.
Mite through Midget divisions. Coaches may select their teams.
Teams are permitted players who played either in the A or AA
classification the previous fall as follows: for the bantam and
peewee divisions, a maximum of two (2) players: for the squirt
division, a maximum of one (1), and for the mini-mite and mite
divisions none (0) are allowed. Midget division only, a maximum of
3 players rostered with travel or high school experience
(excluding freshman). Players with previous AAA experience are
not permitted. For the MAHA sliding scale for limits on 2nd
year players, see the age chart.
A & AA:
Mite through midget divisions. A maximum of two players rostered
AAA as of 01/01/08 are permitted per team with the exception of
the mite divisions where none are allowed and the Squirt division
where 1 is allowed.
High School J. V.:
For players eligible for the fall season. Due to the fact
that there is not a definitive USA Hockey guideline on age
groupings for this classification and that this classification is
in the process of evolving, each season the parameters for the
number of players per grade (freshman - seniors) are discussed and
agreed upon at our mandatory league meeting. Players
with AAA, Junior A, B, or C experience are not permitted in this division.
High School:
For players eligible for the fall season (8th - 11th graders).
Seniors and players born prior to 9/09/89 are not eligible. Players
with Junior A or B experience are not permitted in this division.
Junior C:
For players too old for Midget AA or high school who still want to
check. Players with previous Jr. experience are not permitted in
this group. A maximum of 1 player with Junior B (U.S.) or
Junior C (Canada) experience
is permitted per team. Players with Junior A or College
experience, other than club teams, are not permitted.
